Cardboard

We only recycle clean, corrugated cardboard here! That consists of all of the brown boxes that you have. They can have writing and tape on them (Amazon boxes are fine) but they can't have any food stains (pizza boxes). 

We do not recycle shiny cardboard! 
Shiny cardboard has all of the pictures on it like diaper boxes, TV boxes, shoe boxes, cereal boxes, etc. That is coated in a layer of plastic and the company that buys cardboard from us doesn't want that kind of cardboard. With our location, it's tough to find a buyer for that material. 
So unfortunately, anything that is shiny has to go in the trash! Bagged and tied please so that it doesn't fly out of the truck or your can creating litter.

​The Rapid City Landfill has three different drop off locations for you to utilize for cardboard. 
Fitzgerald Stadium on Sheridan Lake Rd 
Landfill entrance on Hwy 79
Corner of Anamosa and Nickel Street 

Cardboard is not accepted in your curbside recycling bin. 
You can place it in your regular garbage can but it must be broken down and bagged and tied. If it's not broke down, it will likely get stuck and prevent your can from emptying during collection.
