​The Rapid City Landfill accepts common household appliances, with one exception: we cannot accept any appliance that contains, or has ever contained, Freon.

Our operating permit strictly prohibits the disposal of these items, even if the Freon has been professionally removed.

All appliances (containing Freon or with Freon removed) must go to Pacific Steel & Recycling.
There is a $30 fee per appliance.

They are the only place in Rapid City that will accept these items. ​
